UCLA Nursing
A career in nursing is very rewarding and the
UCLA nursing program can help you
reach your goals as a nurse, no matter what type of nurse you want to be. Ranked
as one of the top nursing schools in the country, the UCLA School of Nursing
offers a variety of programs depending on your goals, including a masters in
nursing program, bachelors in science, Ph.D. programs, and more.
To be accepted into the program, freshman students already enrolled at UCLA must
complete general freshman requirements and fill out an application to the
nursing program. If you are a transfer student, you will need to contact UCLA or
visit their website to check which courses you need before transferring.
Generally, you will want to complete chemistry courses, life science, and
psychology. You may also want to check with your current college to see if they
offer the required classes.
The UCLA nursing program also offers a study abroad program. Through this
program, you can travel to other countries and provide health care to others
while you work toward your degree. Undergraduate and graduate students are
welcome to participate.
UCLA also offers a summer research program if you are interested. This program
is open to students in their junior year with a minimum GPA of 2.8. You must
also obtain and submit a letter of recommendation, official transcript, personal
statement, and financial statement.
Financial aid and scholarships are available as well. You may apply for both,
although there are deadlines. It is recommended that you apply for FAFSA, which
must be submitted by March 2nd. Scholarship deadlines vary, along with the
amount of the scholarship. UCLA offers a campus wide scholarship, which must
also be submitted by March 2nd and requires a minimum 3.5 GPA to be considered
for the scholarship.
To ensure that you are on the correct path toward your career goals, you may
want to contact an adviser at the UCLA nursing program. They will be able to
give you additional information on the program and help give you advise so you
know that you are working toward the proper degree.
